Ivypaw Ivypaw lightly placed her paw in front of her, stepping lightly so as not to get her paws stuck in the mud. Her usually tidy fur was splattered with patches of mud. She shifted her weight forward, keeping her mouth ajar for the scent of the rabbit she was tracking through the undergrowth. She shifted her haunches, her tail twitching self consciously. Sunlight broke through places of the overcast sky. The shadows flickered, hiding her every movement. The breeze blew into her face, bringing a fresher scent to her nostrils. Her stomach ached with hunger. She had not eaten that morning and she was anxious to find fresh kill. The sooner she caught food for the elders, the sooner she could eat herself. She pricked her ears forward, listening to the faint heartbeat of the rabbit. It was nibbling on some unseen food source and Ivy paw prepared herself to spring. She held her breath, letting all focus be centered around the rabbit.

Lightfleck The dirt and mud of Mudslide Pond in IvoryClan territory was not a good place to be if your fur was so long that it picked up almost every single bit of mud there was. Unfortunetley for one cat her fur was this long and her fur looked tufty as the mud dried in some places and new mud plastered onto others. Despite the uncomfortable feeling the mud gave her she had managed to catch a rabbit and a sparrow both of which she had scraped dirt over to retrieve later. She just wanted to catch one more thing and she would head back to camp to eat something herself.
Lightfleck lifted her nose into the air as she detected the scent of rabbit. Carefully she stalked forward, following the promising scent. She only walked a short distance before she caught another scent... this time a clan cat. She realized easily that it was Ivypaw, the young apprentice had obviously caught the scent of rabbit and was stalking it. Lightfleck slowly stopped walking when the scent of Ivypaw and the rabbit grew fresher. The she-cat looked around with her one good eye to try and see the other cat. It was impossible to find Ivypaw but the rabbit was in plain sight. You've got the perfect opportunity, young one... She thought. Silently willing the young she-cat on. Lightfleck may not be able to see the cat but she could easily scent her.
The she-cat carefully lay down on her belly making sure not to make any sounds as she did so. The color of her pelt made it difficult to see her, especially with the mud plastering it.

Ivypaw Ivypaw prepared herself for the pounce. The wind was just perfect, keeping her out of the rabbits notice. She took another cautious step. The rabbit's ears pricked towards her. She stood still, heart pounding behind her ears. The rabbit sniffed the air and relaxed, looking amoung the food. She decided not to chance it anymore. She rushed forward on the rabbit, sinking her claws around its body. She sunk her teeth into its neck, breaking it. The rabbit hung loosly in her mouth, it's scent lingering in her nose. She dropped it on the ground and realized she had not stepped light enough. Her hind leg was stuck deep in the mud. She pulled her foot out of it with a loud squishing sound. She grimaced in distaste. The mud stuck between her toes and coated her fur. "Ew. How disgusting,"She said. She shook it lightly, trying to dislodge the mud. It stuck fast and she sighed. She picked up the mud-covered rabbit and turned around. She could smell Lightfleck near by. She walked quietly toward her, the prey dangling from her mouth. She stood in front of the older cat, nodding respectfully. "How are you Lightfleck,"She said around the prey. Muffled, it came out more like "Howayalatfek". Her tail flicked back and forth, happily.

Lightfleck watched as the young cat swiftly ran from her hiding spot and killed the rabbit. The she-cat smiled to herself. Good job, Ivypaw. The warrior noticed that if the apprentice had waited any longer the catch could have been lost... but she had swiftly run from her hiding spot and killed it, so there was no need to worry about that.
The brown she-cat stood and waited for the apprentice to walk over to her. Her whiskers trembled in amusement as the cat's paw got stuck in the mud. She felt a little sympathetic for her when she realized the mud couldn't be shaken off... She'd have to remember to tell the apprentice to find some water to wash the mud off.
The trembling in Lightfleck's whiskers became more pronounced and she had to stifle a purr when the younger she-cat's words came muffled around the prey. "I'm very well, thank-you. And yourself?" The she-cat looked down at the rabbit. It was a nice size and was quite a catch. "Nice job with getting the rabbit, Ivypaw, it didn't know what hit it."

It took her a second to realize her words had almost come out indistinguishable. Ivypaw's ear twitched in embarrassment. She put the prey down, so she could talk clearly."I'm doing well, but maybe I should have hunted somewhere a little less...muddy. Even the prey doesn't want to come out," she said, glaring at her mud-covered foot. Her tawny pelt had streaks of mud all over it. "I would be happier about catching the rabbit if I wasn't so dirty. It's going to take me forever to get all of this mud off."she said, unhappily. She kept her tail from touching the ground, not wanting to get it plastered with mud as well. She flicked the tip of her tail, unconsiously.

Lightfleck looked at her sympathetically as the apprentice glared at her mud-coated foot. "The prey doesn't like this mud any more than we do." The she-cat kept herself from flinching away as a small bit of mud from the tip of Ivypaw's tail splattered toward her. "Maybe you should try to find a watering hole. It will be easier to get mud off of your fur if you wash yourself in the water than licking it off of your fur." Lightfleck knew that the idea of an IvoryClan cat washing in a water hole wasn't a very happy one for them. EbonyClan cats were the ones who preferred the water not them. However, spending a very long time licking your fur while getting a bad taste in your mouth wasn't exactly what you would call better than water... well in her opinion anyway.
