* * * Dandelions, dandelions everywhere! They set quite a mood in the place, as they swayed back and forth, in front of one's face. In the Dandelion meadow a tomcat made his way through. If you weren't paying attention one might think he was a rabbit, the way his long legs moved to make him walk. His front paws would take two steps then his back ones would hop to catch up. His stumpy black tail waggled as he walked through the wonderful plants. After reaching a spot that he decided was the center of the meadow he stopped and sat. He sniffed and brought in the aroma of the flowers. So wonderful! A smile etched its way onto his features as he sat there.
He decided that it would be nice to roll around and maybe get some of the scent of dandelion clinging to him. So, he threw himself backwards and started rolling. Not so much that dirt would cling to his fur but enough so that some of the flower petals started to stick to his snow-white fur. He relished the feeling of sunlight on his belly, it seemed to warm him all over.
Shivering in pure delight the IvoryClan deputy sat up and shook himself. A few petals still stuck on his head and back however, but he didn't mind. He only thought they enhanced his appearance. One could get used to this, however, he had a clan to watch over. True, he wasn't the leader but he still had certain duties. He raised his head to the sky as he thought. Was there anything he had forgotten to do before he left? He'd sorted out the sunhigh patrols. Made sure that the elders had been given fresh-kill. The fresh-kill pile was looking good but that was due to the abundance of prey this season. So, everything was good thus far so he deserved to spoil himself with a bit of a sunhigh break. He wouldn't stay long. Just long enough to satisfy himself. He took in the scent of fresh flowers again before he lay down to rest. Flowers still stuck to his head and back but he only smiled at these additions to his pelt.

KestrelclawThe earth, bare and baked, that made up much of IvoryClan territory had really put his current state in perspective, in an odd and incredibly convoluted way. The dirt had scorched his pads - they'd once been callused and strong, but were starting to go soft from his banishment to the elders' den, and out on the plains he'd felt absolutely vulnerable. Mired in a vast and coverless plain, he'd been thoroughly exposed. Vulnerable. Kestrelclaw had felt as if every monstrous, gargantuan eagle that had ever glided through his mother's stories could see him now and just waited for the opportune moment to snatch this stupid, blind cat up. If it weren't for Fernstar - the occasional tailtap on the shoulder to lead him in the right direction, the rhythmic pawsteps that were easy to follow - the once-warrior would have been lost in his own motherland. Dandelion Meadow was a sharp contrast to the barren landscape that he and Fernstar had just navigated through. The smell of the vibrant weeds around him mingled with the aroma of crushed leaves and the promising smell of tiny, scuffling prey set his mind at ease, and the sun beating down on his bleach-colored back was no longer unbearable. Kestrelclaw let out a pleased purr as they reached the edge of the meadow despite himself, tail flicking cheerfully. Then he paused, head cocked to the side a little as he opened his mouth and inhaled slowly. There was definitely the scent of another cat nearby... the thought made his short fur stand on end, but it laid flat again as he recognized it as an IvoryClan tom. Not just any one, though; his lips twitched into a half-malicious smirk as he realized that the other in the meadow was Hareflight. What was the flamboyant deputy doing here in the middle of Greenleaf? Shirking off in his duties?
Perhaps he hadn't noticed them yet. Kestrelclaw slipped foward steadily, tail flicking sharply against Fernstar's muzzle as a sign for her to keep silent. He dropped into a hunting position and began to weave through the tall flowers of the field, silent laughter burbling inside of him. Rabbits felt the vibrations of your pawsteps on the ground, after all, and his steps were even and light. The snowy tom had to pause every few steps to inhale and redirect himself towards Hareflight, but he was stealthier and more focused than he had been in ages. Plus, the elements seemed to be working with him; he was downwind, and unless Hareflight saw the bobbing of dandelion heads, Kestrelclaw was hopefully undetected. Finally he was within pouncing distance of Hareflight; the premature elder paused, triyng to consider how cruel he wanted to be... after a split second's debate, he decided that the deputy deserved everything he got. In one moment Kestrelclaw had unsheathed his claws - they'd been unused for too long - and in the next he had pounced at where he thought Hareflight might lay; the tom shouted at the top of his lungs, "GET THE HELL UP, LAZYBONES!"
The best part? He was an elder. Fernstar and Hareflight couldn't chastise them. Maybe retirement had some perks.

* * * As he laid in the grass the tomcat decided that it would be very nice to be able to close his eyes and take a short nap. Yes, that would be nice. He'd be up again in no time. So, the tom yawned once and closed his vivid blue eyes. Within moments he was dead to the world...
It had felt like only a few moments before something interrupted his slumber. Not only something... claws. The tomcat could feel his shoulder being pierced by claws. He yowled as loud as he could, still half asleep, "Intruders! Intruders on IvoryClan territory!" Hareflight squirmed and kicked out with his powerful hind legs. Hoping to catch whoever had attacked him.
[dice=6]
Once he kicked out he managed to squirm away from his assailant. His stumpy tail wagging furiously back and forth as the anger than all creatures feel in battle hit. Once he managed to get up he turned and faced his attackers- only to see that they were his clan members. It was Fernstar and the blind elder, Kestrelclaw. Just great! His wonderful nap had been interrupted by this ruffian? How could this get any worse?
Hareflight huffed angrily and began to groom his ruffled fur. That right now was first and foremost on his mind. He would not bear having a disorderly coat! It was obscene! Once his fur was groomed to to his liking he spoke. "I don't know what you mean by 'lazy' but that most certainly is not me, sweetheart! I was simply just taking a break after all of my deputy duties were done. But it was only going to be a moment before I got back up to resume my duties again." His eyes were narrowed and you could tell that their were more choice words that he wanted to say. The only thing that held him back was the fact that the clan leader was there and that the one who had pounced on him was an elder. Someone who deserved to be respected. Even if their idea of waking up cats was jumping on them. Hareflight gave another angry thump of his black tail and decided he should at least try to be polite. His fur had only been ruffled... he wasn't hurt... too badly. That scratch on his shoulder would most likely leave a scar... a small one, granted. However, it would add to the scars he had gotten from previous battles... and he wasn't pleased one bit about that.
"Anyway, what brings you two out here? Enjoying the sun as well? Or were you attracted by the beautiful aroma of the flowers? I know I was, they are just b-u-tiful!" With disdain he noticed that flowers he had collected were gone. His pelt was left bare of them... but at least he still smelled like dandelions. That was good.[/blockquote][rand=7487035519410963815717318130125889406858009006061674443971105497]

Fernstar
» Fernstar padded along with Kestrelclaw, hanging back by his hind, guiding him occasionally with a touch of her tail when he stayed too far away from the narrow path Fernstar had decided to follow past the Mudslide Pond. Mud clung to the small feline's legs, having slid on the banks of the pond as the pair were walking past, almost falling into the murky water. Every few steps she paused to shake her paws in distaste, attempting to shake away the sticky mud with no prevail. She was slightly relieved to reach Dandilion Meadow so that she may have a chance to clean her fur.
» When Kestrelclaw's tail slapped over her muzzle, she kept quiet, even though she had not had anything to say. Her whiskers twitched curiously and her eyes moved on to look for what the elder was beginning to stalk, creeping through the flowers and grass with light pawsteps. She spotted the hind legs of what appeared to be a hare, but they were too large to be a actual rabbit, and Fernstar quickly realized it was her deputy, Hareflight. She sat down in the grass and watched, amused, as Kestrelclaw tackled the unsuspecting deputy, but the tom quickly through him off and had a fit about his pelt becoming messy. Hareflight was a curious tom, not having the masculine vibe that all other toms had. Fernstar gave the deputy an apologetic nod, but a purr rose in her throat. "We're sorry for disturbing you on your break, Hareflight. Such a helpful deputy does need to relax sometime." The wheat-tabby she-cat stood up and padded over to the hare-legged tom, touching his shoulder with her tail tip. "I decided to take a walk with Kestrelclaw since the camp was boring the poor dear." She shifted her green eyes to Kestrelclaw, ears flicking and a small feline-smile on her lips.

KestrelclawPoint one for Kestrelclaw! He bared his teeth in sabage satisfaction as his claws met Hareflight's fur, but the tom managed to - through luck more than skill - roll away from the deputy's near-lethal kick. Kestrelclaw remained where he landed, stretched out on a bed of dandelions as his ears frantically swiveled and tried to locate Hareflight. Was he over... there, maybe? No, maybe over -- And then the deputy opened his mouth. The elder's thoughts of prolonging the little battle evaporated immediately. He managed to stay quiet as the two exchanged words, though a faint smirk appearing on his scarred face. But really; 'sweetheart?' The smaller tom sounded like a sassy, not-too-bright she-cat. "I decided to take a walk with Kestrelclaw since the camp was boring the poor dear." 'The poor dear' in question managed a somber nod before a snicker escaped him. "Yes, very true, Fernstar..." After this sentence he burst out laughing, loud guffaws making his entire body shake. "I can see -- why you made Bunnylegs here deputy. He's -- certainly good for a -- laugh!" Kestrelclaw managed through chuckles, shaking his head in bemused disbelief as the laughter abated, but a small, malicious smile remained. "No offense, of course." The blind elder added almost apologetically, pulling himself into a sitting position. There was still a note of scorn in his amused tone. "I'm sure you've earned your rest." Dammit, he would have been ten times the deputy as that ignorant furball! If he hadn't gotten mauled by the stupid fox, he would be second-in-command instead of that buffoon... Needless to say, he'd never much liked the tom.
ooc: Kestrelclaw's mean. ._.; Also, he's just a little bit jealllousss.

* * * Hareflight glanced at the blind elder with a not-too-polite look on his face. He wasn't fond of the deputy and he was sure that feeling was mutual. He saw the elder burst out in guffaws and he barely kept from narrowing his eyes. "I can see -- why you made Bunnylegs here deputy. He's -- certainly good for a -- laugh!" Hareflight looked sharply at Kestrelclaw. Bunnylegs! Well, he never! He was a deputy and deserved more respect! "No offense, of course. I'm sure you've earned your rest." Hareflight raised his nose into the air snootily. "None taken... And I have earned my rest. Organizing patrols to keep cats like you fed and safe." Not like you deserve it. He added silently. He didn't want to point blank be disrespectful with Fernstar present. He didn't know how that would go over. He turned his vivid blue gaze to Fernstar. "Maybe you should have left poor Kestrelclaw at the camp. He looks to be a bit cranky. Probably didn't get his nap out or get to finish telling stories to those darling little kits." His tone was respectful as he spoke to the leader. However, he gaze a slight glance to Kestrelclaw and his next words dripped sarcasm. "You know how much he loves to tell stories to them." Hareflight's stumpy tail gave a wag.[/blockquote]
